Matielyn Jones, Founder

Matielyn is a former Staff Member for President Barack Obama’s 2008 Campaign, and a Democratic woman who ran for public office to become State Senator of Georgia's 45th District.  Matielyn ran a formidable campaign as a first-time candidate, earning 44% of the vote in a traditionally-conservative District, increasing voter turnout by 13,000 people, fundraising $85,000 with an average donation of $27, and self-managing all campaign operations without staff. Her field experience from the Obama campaign combined with her background as an educator and program administrator provided a solid foundation to lead efforts toward progressive change in Georgia.  On a personal level, she ran for office as a wife, mother of young children, and full-time employee--providing invaluable perspective on the challenges that many women face as social barriers to successful political campaigns and insights for how to address them in practical, meaningful ways.

Matielyn holds degrees in Political Science and Education, with nearly 20 years of mission-driven, people-centered professional experience.  As an educator, advocate, and organizer, Matielyn believes it is important to equip people for success and to create a supportive environment in which they can thrive. Most importantly, she's personally committed to doing the work of helping people get involved in politics beyond voting.

It is the mission of Politics 365 to be a resource to everyday people who want to learn more about political process, organize within their communities, run for public office, and discuss how to lead long-term, progressive change.  Everyday people.  Forming a more perfect Union.  Every day.
